Bathed in sunlight and overlooking the Manor Court and neighbouring valley, the La Sconosciuta suite is privileged to one of the most impressive vistas in the entire estate. Located in what once was the former farm’s manor house, where the landowning Barone family once resided, the room still holds a strong connection with the past, while maintaining a contemporary atmosphere thanks to modern design elements like an elaborate queen bed by the designer Paola Navone and lighting by the artist Antonino Sciortino. Awash in an airy palette of turquoise, green and deep blue, the room’s colouring recalls the verdant foliage of the Sicilian landscape and the pristine waters of the island’s surrounding sea.

La Sconosciuta comes from the 2006 film of the same name by the director Giuseppe Tornatore, which follows the tragic tale of Irena, a woman born into poverty in Ukraine. In the midst of her exploitation, she meets an Italian man who promises to take her away from her unfortunate situation. When the man she loves is killed, she avows to bring his murderer to justice.
