Dimora delle Balze

Punto e Virgola

The Punto e Virgola room is located in the part of the compound that once housed the peasant farmers that worked the land, as well as their extended families. In addition to their own sleeping quarters, this is where many of their daily tasks would have been completed. The charming and spacious Punto e Virgola room overlooks the ancient architecture of the Dimora’s central courtyard and benefits from a sun-drenched outdoor terrace. The structure’s original rough stone walls and patterned tiles inspired by traditional Sicilian ceramics are contrasted by beautifully crafted contemporary furniture like a wooden wardrobe by furniture designer Katrine Ahrens, luxuriant bedding by Signoria Firenze, and a daybed by Atmosphere d’Ailleurs that can comfortably accommodate a third guest.

Punto e Virgola, which translates to semi-colon, was inspired by the work of artist and writer Emilio Isgrò, who was born in Barcelona but moved to Italy. Using images to analyze text, his pieces allow viewers to gain a new perspective on the subtleties of language.
