Sicily’s role in the history of cinema is one of the realities that first drew visitors from all across the world to this idyllic island. As the setting to some of Italian cinema’s most revered films — Antonioni’s L’Avventura, Germi’s Divorce Italian Style, Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso — filmmaking has become an essential part of Sicilian culture. From July 6th to 13th, the Film Festival of Ortigia celebrates this art form by screening the latest work from both Italian and International filmmakers.
