Annunciata
The L’Annunciata junior suite is one of the lavishly appointed rooms in the estate. Set in the former manor home of the noble Barone delle Balze family, the spacious 40 sqm room still holds traces of the home’s original ornamentation. Dominated by a vaulted red ceiling painted a shade of deep red, an ornate crystal chandelier and a monumental custom headboard by the designer Draga Obradovich, all of which complement and contrast the forest green and cream-coloured sheets by Signoria Firenze. One of the room’s most impressive features is its luxurious “salle de bain,” complete with a freestanding soaker tub that has been placed in the centre of the room like a sculpture.
L’Annunciata is a painting by Antonello da Messina from 1476 and is still kept in nearby Palermo. The bright face of Mary slowly emerges against a black background, turned towards the interlocutor and is represented in three-quarters, painted in the Flemish style. The figure’s hand seems to hold back the viewer.
